8 Exercises To Get That J.LO-Worthy Booty

There used to be a time when it was all about voluptuous curves, or a tiny waist, or super long legs. While all of that is still desirable, the focus has shifted. These days it’s all about that booty. Everyone wants to have a great, big, toned, round butt. It’s gotten to the point where you now can buy not only push up bras, but also push up jeans, special padded pants and booty pads — all designed to enhance your beautiful behind and make it look bootylicious.

1. Leg Lifts
Get on all fours and then drop onto your elbows. Now all you’ve got to do is keep your leg bent at the knee and lift them up. Do about 10 leg lifts on one side and then switch. For a better result do three sets for each leg.

2. Squats
You’ve got to learn to love squats – they’re not easy, but they’re really worth it. The trick here is to have proper form. It’s important not to lean forward too much and keep your weight on your heels. Your feet should be shoulder width apart, or slightly wider, hold your back straight, your core — tight. When you do squats make sure your knee doesn’t go over your toes.

3. Squat hold
It’s exactly what it sounds like. Do a squat and just hold the position for as long as you can. Aim for about 30 seconds, but if you can do more — that’s even better. An easier variation of this is a wall sit. To do that just stand with your back against a wall and pretend like you’re sitting on an invisible chair.

4. Bride (or hip thrusts) 

This is a great exercise that tones not only your booty, but also works your back and thighs. Lay down on your back, bend your knees and now lift your booty. Keep lifting it up and down, basically pulse for about 30 seconds and then hold the bridge position for another 20. While you’re doing this, really squeeze your butt, you will really feel the burn this way. If you want to challenge yourself even more, try straightening out one leg as you pulse up and down.

5. Lunges
The good old lunges will do magic to your behind if you’re consistent. Do front lunges, back lunges, side lunges. Try to do about 15 to 30 on each side. Break them up into sets to make it easier. If you’re ready for more of a challenge try doing walking lunges. It might look ridiculous but hey, we’ll do whatever it takes to get that J.Lo curves.

6. Mountain Climbers
This is a great exercise for your whole body. It’ll get your heart pumping and make you sweat like crazy if you do it right. If you can’t do the quick mountain climbers, you can do the slower, easier version where you alternate lifting your leg to your chest. It’s not as tiring, but it still works out the same muscles.

7. Superman
This fun named exercise works all of your back. It looks easy, but it’s actually really hard to do. Lay down on your front, keep your legs apart, arms out but bent. Now squeeze up and hold for about 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat 3 to 5 times.
